📡 How to Check the Wi‑Fi Network Name (SSID) on an Android Mobile and Tablet

Checking the Wi‑Fi network name on an Android tablet is simple, though menu labels may vary slightly depending on the device manufacturer or Android version. Follow the steps below to find the SSID you’re connected to or nearby networks.

01

Open the Settings App

All Wi‑Fi settings are managed from the device’s Settings menu.

  • Tap the Settings (⚙️) icon on the home screen

  • Or swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the gear icon

02

Go to the Wi‑Fi or Network Menu

This is where you can view available wireless networks.

Settings → Network & Internet → Wi‑Fi

  • Menu names may vary: Connections, Network, Internet, etc.

  • Tap Wi‑Fi once you find it

03

Check the Currently Connected Wi‑Fi

You can immediately see which network your tablet is using.

  • At the top of the Wi‑Fi screen, look for the network labeled Connected

  • This name is your current Wi‑Fi network (SSID)

04

View Other Available Wi‑Fi Networks

You can also see all nearby Wi‑Fi SSIDs.

  • Scroll through the list of available networks

  • Each name shown is an SSID

  • A lock icon means the network requires a password

05

Select the Restaurant’s Wi‑Fi Network

Choose the correct network before printing from the owner app.

  • Find the restaurant’s Wi‑Fi name in the list

  • Tap it and connect

  • Open the owner app, select an order, and tap Print to test

06

If Printing Fails, Check Network Matching

Most Common Issue

Printing will not work if the tablet and POS printer are on different networks.

  • Confirm the POS printer and tablet are connected to the same Wi‑Fi network

  • If not, switch to the correct SSID and try printing again

✨ Additional Tips

  • SSID not visible: It may be a hidden network, requiring manual SSID entry.

  • Router name changes: If the SSID was renamed in the router settings, the updated name will appear in the list.

  • Wi‑Fi connection issues: Incorrect passwords, weak signal, or router filtering (e.g., MAC filtering) may prevent connection.
